Chemical Engineering 1h: Reactors
This 4 lecture module will be given in the summer term.
General Aims
- To introduce the concepts of chemical reaction engineering
- To relate these to material in the Chemistry course
- To introduce the different types of chemical reactor
- To disuss reactors in the context of a complete process
- To carry out a reactor design case study
Learning Outcomes
On successfully completing the module students will be able to:
- Describe quantitatively the kinetics of simple reactions
- For these reactions, to calculate
production rates rates in different types of reactor and sizes of reactor
- To compare the performance of different types of reactor for
a given processing problem
- To design, at an elementary level,
simple reactors and related processing operations
