Flowsheeting on the World Wide Web
Jack W Ponton
Abstract/Introduction
This report describes preliminary work in providing a `flowsheeting',
i.e. mass and energy balance computation, tool running across the
WWW.
Starting from a near-natural language description of the process,
the system will generate:
- A 3-d flowsheet
- A hypertext document describing the process
- A mass balance model in a spreadsheet
- A set of physical property models in the spreadsheet
In the prototype system the first two and last two features are not fully
integrated, but all features have been demonstrated.
This report illustrates the use of the prototype with the Douglas HDA
process. For details of other WWW related work in the ECOSSE
group see
[1} and
[3] .

(Note that a VRML viewer is required to display the active flowsheet
but a .giff copy is available
here.)
