The simplest batch filtration equipment is merely a scaled up version of a Buchner filter – a square or round tray , floored with ridged porous tiles over which a filter cloth is stretched . The sluury is loaded onto the tray and suction applied to the underside to force the filtrate through the cloth. Unloading of the cake is manual.
